Brief Overveiw: Gaidz Youth Organization

The Gaidz Youth Organization, founded in 1910 under the supervision of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party in order to foster harmonious, productive relationships among all Armenian youth of socioeconomic background. Its primary objectives is to encourage Armenian youth to persevere the Armenian culture and be politically and benevolently involved in the Armenian community. Since its establishment of its Californian branch in 1982, the mission of the Gaidz Youth Organization has had a leading role in maintaining and promoting our Armenian identity, history, culture and heritage; fostering a harmonious and productive relationship among Armenian youth; and to spread awareness and tolerance of Armenian and non-Armenian communities by way of encouraging active involvement in community affairs. In order to continue with its mission, the Gaidz Youth Organization in recent years has organized and promoted events such as commemorative vigils of the Armenian Genocide, educational seminars about Armenians and Armenia, promotion of literacy through its English and Armenian book reading programs for children at local libraries, organize and participate in youth forums, and cultural festival, etc.
